Re: Kherington from SYTYCD in the remake of Fame
yeah i agree most of them were just there for the entertainment factor, not much raw talent ffs

The only decent one in the top four was Katee. Joshua was pretty good but they played up the whole "untrained" thing when clearly he DID have at least some training, and I'm not talking about the occasional workshop.

yeah katee was really good, versatile and all. i loved the "no air" routine. i loved mark, but he wasn't really as talented as the others, he was just extremely hot and i will NEVER forget the "bohemian rhapsody" routine in vegas ahahahaha

Re: Kherington from SYTYCD in the remake of Fame
It's what he did at the live tour show too. But yeah, male contemporary dancers are now a dime a dozen on that show, so you either need to be able to
a) jump higher than your average cieling (ala Joshua)
b) do seven-or-more consecutive pirouettes with PERFECT control (ala Danny Tidwell)
c) extend your legs like a girl (ala Travis Wall)
and if all else fails, d) bust out a back handspring like Neil, who couldn't do much else.
Mark could do none of those things, just make funny faces. I'm sorry, but I really find overly "weird" movements overrated. When I did my workshop with Mia Michaels in Vegas I was afraid our workshop would be like some of the stuff she does for the show which is purely show, all emotion and NO technique whatsoever. It wasn't. It was actually challenging. She even said to us that most of the stuff she gives to hip-hop and latin/ballroom dancers is not really all that challenging for the contemporary dancers, but she's just lucky that she's creative enough to make it look like a level playing field.

well yeah. the routines on the show are mostly for entertainment value.
they want someone who can give a great performance, not necessarily someone with the best technical abilities.

But also, they've never really been dishonest about that. We're voting for America's "favourite" dancer, and they're getting it. It's not like ANTM or American Idol where you have to pray to God that they actually work out and become all that the show promised.

Re: Kherington from SYTYCD in the remake of Fame
yeah yeah, that's what i like about it.
like they knew travis was a much better dancer than benji, but benji knew how to entertain, and they liked that.
but it's not like they cast people with no talent. everyone has had a great routine, even some camera whores whose name i will not say....but i'll cough it. COUGHLACEYCOUGH.

Re: Kherington from SYTYCD in the remake of Fame
ahhh allison and ivan will always be my favourite SYTYCD couple, their "sexy love" and "why" routines give me the chills. allison was a great dancer. i mean is, she is a great dancer.

Re: Kherington from SYTYCD in the remake of Fame
Allison was great. Ivan was never really challenged.
But Natalie > Allison. Fo sho. Though they both had EXTREMELY good technique. Sometimes Allison relied on personality in her solos, which were a bit all-over-the-place.

Re: Kherington from SYTYCD in the remake of Fame
i did not like the three of them :/
ivan was too gimmicky with the skates and all that.
natalie was just a pretty girl, allison...eh.

Re: Kherington from SYTYCD in the remake of Fame
Heidi was the best ballroom girl in the history of the show.
Donyelle, I didn't really care for. I remember the night she did the solo to the song from 'Dreamgirls,' it showed how weak her supposed "specialty" was.

her specialty was hip hop
i liked donyelle and benji as partners. they just made it seem like so much fun.
and yeah heidi was the best ballroom dancer.
i would dance with her if she wasn't so short
