i've never really given her a listen despite her huge following.

i've youtubed and listened to like 5 songs and this one just stood out as all kinds of beauty and amazingness:

i reckon i should probably start with the album it's on then, right?

Down By the Water was good, it was very inde and different. i've read that all of her albums sound very different. Tori Amos does that and i like it, so i think i'm gonna download some of PJ's albums.

c avess only has one album

i have dem allllllllll

if you prefer your music more melodic, go for "stories from the city..."

but if you like more difficult music and want to hear one of the best albums ever, get "is this desire?"

oh, she has a new one coming out this year. her second collab with john parish, i can't wait!

i like pj harvey. i don't love her, but i think i've given all her albums at least one listen. my favourite songs are "yuri-g", "the slow drug" and "the sky lit up". her lyrics are good.

were you a fanatic over the years? i didn't get into Tori til 2004 and collecting all of her albums:

Little Earthquakes & Under the Pink are the only ones that sound similar, except Pink is lite on the 90s drums.

Boys for Pele is New Oreleans inde rock and the only album where there's very plain use of an organ.

Choirgirl is all kinds of fabulous noise.

Venus is electronic

Strange Little Girls doesn't count because it's a cover album

Scarlett's Walk is adult contemporary poetry

The Beekeeper is a pile of shit, let's leave it at that

and ADP is purely baroque.

don't get me wrong, it's always Tori & a piano, and she always has some pure piano ballads on an album, but when you look at the overall sound of her albums, they're very different. also, have you seen her live? because she has a way of being able to break down her own songs live and making them all sound closer together.

little earthquakes and under the pink, i find quite similar in sound with some progression. boys for pele continues the progression (alot) but is based in the same sounds more or less. now choirgirl is where she really changed it up but venus is again just an extension of the sound on choirgirl. of course strange little girls counts! some artists' best albums are cover albums. and i actually really like tori's. she toned down the electronica for this so the sound was really more or less a 00s update of her early 90s sound. the same goes for scarlet's walk. the beekeeper is a bit of an anomaly what with the slick blandness but again, sounds like a sister album to scarlet's walk. finally, american doll posse was admittedly a return to the sounds explored on albums like boys for pele, and it shows.

don't get me wrong, i think tori has shown a lot more variation than some artists do in even longer careers but she hardly has a new sound every album.
