If you're having a hard time conveying a certain mood, study study study the BNTM pictures. Try, for a few frames, pushing yourself really far, even if it's a bit too far and too overdramatic, then look at your pictures, pinpoint what you did wrong, and slowly pull back. Just put energy and commitment into it so that you can say "At least I tried."
