Anyone here good at chemistry??
I really need help with the mole formula,
heres an example:
Calculate the actual number of molecules and atoms in:
0.9g of H2O (atomic weight: H=1, O=16)
So what i did was:
18 = 0.9 (sorry its being wierd. 9.0 over X)
--------- ---------------
6.02X10²³ X
and then i cross multiplied and got:
molecules: 3.01X10²²
atoms: 9X10²³
So i basically wanna know if my formula was correct. Sorry if this is confusing lol

Re: Anyone here good at chemistry??
the formula the way you typed it only allows you to divide the two or just leave it as a really improper fraction, i think you need something on the otherside of equals sign

Re: Anyone here good at chemistry??
i thought this was gonna be about love.
=[
hope someone can help, but i sucked at science, always. i mean, chemistry i actually did decent in because i understood some of it, but like most people, i forgot it as soon as i was told i'd never have to do it again.

yea its 18 over 6.02X10²³ = 0.9 over X
for some reason 0.9 keeps going next to 18 lol

yea im thinking its the right formula, but i just wanna make sure
Ive been looking on the internet but none of it makes sense. I think connan is good at chem so maybe he'll help lol

Re: Anyone here good at chemistry??
oh.
it's cause i use to do this when i was in 7th grade and then when was in jr in hs :/
is it cause we're in different states? or cause my school was special and wants its students to overwork themselves?

Re: Anyone here good at chemistry??
i took it because i had to take it, and i'm never taking it again.
the only chemicals i'm going to work with are fixers, developers, and alcohol.
i hate science. it's so boring.

Re: Anyone here good at chemistry??
I love science, but i dont like the math side of it. Biology and all that stuff i can handle, i just cant stand formulas and shit

Re: Anyone here good at chemistry??
i think the formulas are easy, but maybe that's just cause i'm good at math

Hmm I can tell u how to do it haha first convert grams to moles of water( which u did) take that number and multiply by (avagadros number/ 1 mol h2o) and multiply that by ( 2 H atom/ 1 molecule) . This will give u the atoms of H. Repeat it for oxygen, except substitute 1 O atom.
For molecules, end at avagadros number ( don't multiply atoms/molecule)
Hope that helps. Sorry if its confusing I did it from memory and via texting LOL do u get the same answers?

hmmm well i went on a website and they said to divide 0.9g by 18g and then multiply by avagadros number. so i did that and i got the same answer.
I know theres a formula, by my professor never said it in class.
thanks for helping though =)

Re: Anyone here good at chemistry??
the site is right, thats mole conversion. (x grams H2O/1) x ( 1 mole/ 18g H2O) = moles h20
Its the same as (x grams h2o/ 18 grams)
let me know if u have more questions, my biochem minor just became useful LOL
