Re: In my shocked photo!
You scratched, and had moist clothes on afterward?
Also, makes sure you get the water in your hot tub checked, and watch out for infection from S. aureus bacteria

Re: In my shocked photo!
Scratched first, then took a shower for Casino Night. Within an hour they were open and blistering.
My dad's getting the hot tub water checked. The doctor also told me I need to shower immediately after I get out of the hot tub every single time.

Re: In my shocked photo!

Re: In my shocked photo!
B/C universal healthcare would require more taxes (or so they say), and a big overhaul of the insurance system (lost jobs ect). Healthcare lobbyists are some of the most influential too, and its not in their interest to change the system . I would care less if there were universal healthcare, I'd still get paid well. Plus, there's always charity care that most hospitals offer.
It's easier to deny people healthcare if you can say "They're too poor to afford it and need to go to work if they want to buy insurance"

Re: In my shocked photo!
one word: SICKO
That documentary was so heartbreaking. It's unfortunate that the most powerful nation in the world can't offer it's citizens the best health care that they can provide, but Cuba a country with little to no resources can have universal health care.

Re: In my shocked photo!
well, at the risk of sounding like a yankee patriot (which I'm not) I must say that movie didn't explain the whole story. Healthcare in the US is probably the best there is.
- Most medical research is done here
-most experimental drug trials and treatments are done here
-Dr's undergo much more training here, and have to continue taking classes even after you get an MD
- An MD from another country doesn't mean anything here, you have to retake boards and everything to practice
- The medical equipment used is the most high tech and costly
- The medications used here are mostly non-generic (Cuba's are mostly generic and expired)
-The process to get an MD is longer and much more selective here (that's why some people go overseas)
OK my rant is over! sorry for boring everyone lol

Re: In my shocked photo!
yeah that's of course a very valid point, but there is still no reason why we can't offer universal health care, i do think most if not all documentaries are biased one way or another, i don't know i loved the documentary aside from the technical aspect of it all

Re: In my shocked photo!
I agree there should be universal healthcare. It sucks when people don't go to the dr. b/c they're trying to save $$$ People just don't want to pay more taxes. It's such a dumb mentality b/c you'll save a $100 a year, but god forbid you need surgery cuz then you might be out ~6k even w/ insurance.

Re: In my shocked photo!
i don't go to the dr cause they don't exist.
many foreign exchanged students have complained about how it's cheaper and better in their countries.

Re: In my shocked photo!
Its cheaper yes ( I went to the Hospital in China, nough said), BUT its not better. The best they could do for my pain was some unknown fluid that tasted like pee. That was a good hospital too. When I got to LA they gave me viccodin. If dr's don't exist why aren't people still dying from polio, bacterial infections, and diptheria? How come people get transplants, chemo, and prenatal care now?

Re: In my shocked photo!
One EXTREME Yankee patriot tried to tell me that our "higher taxes" basically make our health care not actually free and equal to the US.
That prompted my father and I to look through out family records. When my sister had her tumour, all the consultations, the surgery, the ten yearly hospital visits which followed after that, plus three years of going FOUR times a year, would have put us on the streets in the US, even if we weren't paying the additional taxes.

Re: In my shocked photo!
Yup thats true Bree. Unfortunately, most people are of the mindset that they wont get sick, or need that amount of medical attention so why pay the minimal taxes. Its a really poor trade. It's expensive because (all the stuff i listed b4) isn't subsidized by the government and the cost is passed on to patients.

Re: In my shocked photo!
If someone's medication is 5 cents in Cuba and 120 dollars in America, and if someone is on 9 medications in America, and gets reviewed in Cuba and is taken off 5 of them, it's fucking ridiculous to see that happen to people who clearly don't need to be spending that kind of money on bullshit. aeiowrtg0pxvfbstwr

Re: In my shocked photo!
MillaJJoey wrote:*EDIT* - After Lauren posted this with a really whiny original title (it was something like "I wish I didn't have shocked! someone trade me please!" she CHANGED THE TITLE OF THE POST TO MAKE MY FOLLOWING STATEMENT LOOK MORE UNWARRANTED THAN IT WAS. She also changed the content of her post to make it look like she wasn't genuinely complaining when she was. *EDIT*
Oh stop COMPLAINING. Do your best with what you have.
SOOOOooo dramatic. & so serious. Makes me think like... CAPS LOCK MAKES YOU LISTEN TO ME.
I don't know/care what Laurens original post was and definetly don't want to read these 10 pages but I think this is the source of some of the tension/drama thats been floating around the boards, no? Whatever, I hope it's over and if so Im glad it's over. When did Mila become Tyra and Lauren become Tiffany?
I think we can all agree that, we are collectively, SO OVER IT.
